An entertaining time travel romance
I haven’t read much by Nicole Pyland, not sure why, but she’s an established Sapphic fiction author and I liked the little I read. I’m not a fan of time travel stories but I really enjoyed One Day You’ll Leave Me by Debra Flores so I had high expectations for this one too.
Ryder has been working on a time travel machine for all her life, inspired by her grandmother’s stories, trying to right the wrongs of the past. Carter is working out of town when she meets a stranger who affirms that she’s her future wife, only that Carter is already married to someone else. Will Carter take the leap of faith with Ryder and embark on a journey to change the past and the future in the process?
This is an entertaining story about time travel and fated love featuring two couples, one in the past and the other in the present. Both main characters are likeable and easy to root for them even though a bit of suspension of disbelief is needed, not only for the time travel in itself but also for the context surrounding it. But this is a work of fiction and it’s fun to read. There are a few action scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat too.
This is my second audiobook narrated by Blair Baker (the first one was Rabbits of the Apocalypse by Benny Lawrence, which I loved) and once again, she did a very good job with the story. If you like time travel romances, then this one is for you. 4 stars.
