This was a fun and enjoyable read
This was a fun and enjoyable read. While Skye is a newer author, she has already made her mark on me and I always look forward to enjoying her writing. When I saw that her next sapphic book was going to be a superhero, sci-fi/futuristic, romance, I was really excited. Skye did not let me down and this was a good start to the series and I can’t wait to read more.
The premise is really cool. A dying alien race, landed on earth, and sprinkled a bunch of nanites on people who were in close proximity to where their ships touched down. The nanites have given some people different powers, but no one knows what they all mean because all the aliens died as soon as they made it to earth.
I love superhero anything, so the fact that these alien powers changed some humans is such a cool premise. If someone is giving out superhero powers I am so in. Anyway, between the government, and other shadowy organizations, you don’t know who to trust and the intrigue angle of wondering what is really going on makes this book a lot of fun to read. I picked this up and happily read it in one session. I would have loved the book to be longer, because I was enjoying myself, but at least I know we don’t have to wait long for the second book in the series.
This book has a slow-burn romance with an ice queen character. Our ice queen is very frosty and has not melted much yet so the romance is just barely getting out of the blocks. Skye has promised that the heat level will definitely rise and I can’t wait to see how their relationship progresses in book 2.
TLDR: I would easily recommend this book to people who enjoy superhero-type stories. The premise is a lot of fun and the book is very readable. You don’t have to be a big sci-fi fan to enjoy this as I think it would appeal to fans of all genres. There is an ice-queen romance, but it is still slowly building so the real heat is yet to come. This was a good start to this series and I’m excited about book 2.
A copy was given to me for a review.
