Review of ‘Tinsel’ by Kris Bryant
Bryant hit a home run with this shorter, lesbian Christmas novella!
I’m normally not a big fan of holiday-themed stories (or cats!), but this short story was exactly what I needed. Told in first person from Jessica’s point of view, this one really has all of the good feels that I needed right now. The reader is taken on a journey right along with Jessica as she tries to navigate her life after yet another breakup. When an adorable kitten forces her way into Jessica’s life, whether she likes it or not, Jessica takes on the responsibility of being a pet owner for the first time.
This one’s not all about the cute kitten though, when Jessica meets veterinarian Taylor, the romance begins to take shape. Even with Jessica’s early surliness, this is an easy one to enjoy with the sweetness of the romance, the adorableness of the kitten, as well as a whole host of well-formed secondary characters.
Even as an unapologetic dog lover and part-time Scrooge, I really fell in love with this cute kitten and this short story! It’s a definite win for pre-Christmas fun. 4.25 stars.
