Review of Playing Cupid by Paris Rivera, Audiobook narrated by Eva McCoy

This is my second book by this author and the first audiobook that I’ve listened to. I was intrigued because one of the characters is Argentinean and my compatriots are hard to find in lesfic.

When Cat Scott, 34, goes to a college reunion, she bumps (literally) into Tracy, 20, a current student. Tracy is in love with Ximena, an Argentinean student who has a predilection for older women. Cat and Tracy hatch a plot to lure Ximena into having sex with Cat and eventually Tracy. What follows is a super hot threesome in a shower…

This audiobook does exactly what it says on the tin, there’s no space for ambiguity, Ms. Rivera is bold and the narrator, Eva McCoy, is even bolder. Despite this is a 2-hour audiobook, the background story is set, the characters are well fleshed out and the sex scene is long, detailed, varied and super hot. This is good-quality erotica.

I was intrigued about Ximena, the Argentinean character, to see if she was portrayed authentically. I thought that Ms. Rivera’s depiction of Ximena as blunt and arrogant was spot on, especially if it describes people from Buenos Aires, our capital city. Ms. McCoy’s accent and pronunciation of the letter “h” make her sound authentic too. I know that I shouldn’t care much about these details in an erotica book but it speaks of the quality of the product.

Ms. McCoy’s narration is really good, I liked the overall tone, languid and slow. This book in the hands of a less qualified narrator would have been a recipe for disaster but she makes the performance of the sex scenes sound easy and worth a listen. I hope she continues narrating the rest of the series (Cat Goes Back to College). I can’t wait to hear what’s next.

If you are looking for good-quality erotica with a convincing narration, this one is for you. 4.5 stars.
