This is the first book I read from this author. What convinced me to read it was the book description as a story of two women trying to overcome adversity and falling in love in the process.
In my opinion, the book could be divided into two halves, the first one presents the main characters and their issues as they fall in love and the second develops their problems, internal struggles and conflict resolution. My issue with this book is that both parts (falling in love, solving issues) seemed to be developed too fast to make it credible. Despite that, I liked the main characters and their chemistry. However, some secondary characters were a bit stereotyped (specially the baddies) and the maturity of the teenagers seemed a bit unusual.
Overall, an ok read if you are not too picky on these issues. I’ll give this author another try in the future. I wish she wrote something related to her military experience as I like that type of characters and their stories.
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 3 stars.
