Gerri Hill is an experienced lesfic author with more than thirty published novels. She normally writes romances or light romantic mysteries which are a good choice if like reading a page-turner mystery without gruesome parts. This is the case of ‘The locket’ in which hot Hollywood actress Danielle Stevens travels to Dallas to prepare for her next role as a police officer. She meets there Detective Harper Jeremiah who is supposed to show her the daily life of a detective, a job that any of her male counterparts would be more than happy to do as Danielle is incredibly hot. Harper is annoyed with babysitting Danielle as she considers that she’s got more important things to do. However, when a stalker threatens to kill Danielle, things escalate fast and the women find themselves running for their lives and increasingly attracted to each other. Will Harper be able to save Danielle and, at the same time, fight her own demons to explore their attraction further?
This is a very entertaining mystery with some romance in the background. Written in third person from the point of view of both main characters, the author builds up the mystery in increments and manages to drop some hints to the reader while the characters are oblivious to it. As the action picks up pace so does the chemistry between Danielle and Harper without appearing forced, as they are, after all, dealing with life threatening situations. The secondary characters support the plot nicely and the stalker comes across as creepy and dangerous at the same time. If you are looking for a light mystery with lots of action (including some in the bedroom) that keeps you turning pages and invested in the characters, then this is highly recommended.
Overall, a very entertaining and enjoyable mystery with some romance at the side. 4 stars.
