Review of You, Me and the Sunken Treasure by Georgette Kaplan
A good entertaining read. While this was not my favorite book of the series, it still was a fun read like always. This is the third and looks to be finale book in The Cushing-Nevada Chronicles. There was one small storyline that I could have used a little more closure on, but for the most part, this was a good and satisfying series ending.
I talk a lot about how I don’t have the best of luck with humor books. I just don’t find the humor funny most of the time. For whatever reason, Kaplan is an exception and I click well with her humor. While plenty of jokes don’t land, when one actually does, it is literally laugh-out-loud funny. There were some really good lines in this book.
If you are not familiar with this series, besides the humor, the other main part is action. This series is action-packed and it’s the really entertaining action that you would see in a big blockbuster movie. The first two books reminded me of Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones, while this book was new Indiana Jones (with older 2008 Harrison Ford) mixed with old-school James Bond. If you are a fan of those types of movies, imagine the same feel but with lesbians kicking ass and being funny while they do it. That is what this series is about and why it is so enjoyable.
While I had a great time reading this, I did have one slight complaint. Because of where the storyline went, Easy and Candice are apart for a lot of the book. This is why I didn’t like this installment quite as much as the other two books. While I love all the action and humor, the way Easy and Candice play off each other is the best part of all the books for me. They have this love/hate, annoyance/respect thing going on that just gives these two characters this fun chemistry together that I love. I really missed that in this book, but it was still a good story so I can’t complain too much.
If you are a fan of this series, reading this book is a must. If you have not read this series before, and like exciting action and humor, then give book one, Easy Nevada and the Pyramid’s Curse a try. This is a series that does need to be read in order. With how action-packed these books are, the pace is fast and you will fly through the series in no time. I am going to really miss Easy and Candice, but it was one heck of a ride. 3.75 Stars.
An ARC was given to me for an honest review.
