Review of ‘Being Hospitable’ by Meka James
When Kiki Jenkins invited her best friend’s little sister to live with her for a few months as she was on a job internship, she wasn’t expecting to become attracted to her roommate. Charley Graham always had a crush on her brother’s best friend. Now that she is temporarily living with Kiki, she wants to be seen as more than her brother’s little sister…
This is a short lesbian erotica novella that can be read in one sit. It’s refreshing to see women of colour main characters as lesfic needs more diversity. The story will interest many readers with its opposites-attract, age-gap tropes. Both main characters are well-developed and realistic and their chemistry sizzling. As typical in erotica, there are a few sex scenes and they were well-written and hot.
This novella had the potential to become a more developed story. In my opinion, there is a lost opportunity to expand the connection between Kiki and Charley as well as with the brother/best friend. Relationships felt a bit rushed and simplified, for example, there was potential to develop their initial relationship, the temptation as foreplay or explore a bit further the characters’ interest in BDSM. Having said that, this book is a hot, entertaining and quick read which does what it says on the tin.
Overall, a good lesbian erotica novella, 3.5 stars.
