Conference call is a compilation of 28 short stories from different authors under the leitmotif of lesbian literary conferences. There is no prologue by the editor to clue the reader on the original idea or how this project came to life. However, it is interesting to see that the authors vary in their experience, recognition and even publishing companies. Having said that, the stories vary also in their quality. But if you want to get a sample of a few contemporary lesbian authors, this book should be for you. The compilation has mainly romance but there are also some erotica and mystery stories.
Overall, an enjoyable light read ideal if you are looking to sample new authors. 3.5 stars rounded to 4.
